Use AI Assistant summaries on 9800/8875 (Webex Calling)

Now you can request the AI Assistant to summarize the in-meeting conversations and show the summaries by using the phone. This feature can be helpful if you missed something during the meeting or want to collect the meeting minutes. Besides, it can collect the action items that need to be taken after the meeting.

As the meeting host or cohosts, you can choose to start or stop the meeting summary on the phone. If you use the Webex App to host a meeting, you can choose whether the meeting summary option is open for everyone. By default, only the hosts can start or stop the summary.

As the meeting participants, you can start or stop the meeting summary only when the meeting hosts allow it.

The following phone models support this feature:

• Cisco Desk Phone 9861 and 9871
• Cisco Video Phone 8875

If your phone doesn't show the AI Assistant softkey or soft button during a Webex meeting, contact your administrator for support.

Show meeting summary

During a Webex hybrid meeting, do one of following actions depending on your phone model:

On 9861:

1. Locate and press AI Assistant.
2. On the item Meeting summary, press On.

   As a participant, if the meeting hosts allow you to start the meeting summary, you can press On to start the summary. Otherwise, the On softkey is grayed and doesn't work.

   Once enabled, everyone in the meeting receives the notification that indicates the meeting summary is turned on. Meanwhile, the summary options appear on the phone screen.

3. Select one of the following options to get your desired summaries:
   • Catch me up—summary of the last 15 minutes of the meeting.
   • What are the action items?—summary of action items mentioned in the meeting.

   The AI Assistant takes a while to generate the summaries. The summaries are only visible to you, and aren't saved after the meeting.

4. To stop the meeting summary, go back to the AI Assistant screen, and then press Off on the item Meeting summary.

   As a participant, if the meeting hosts allow you to stop the meeting summary, you can press Off to stop the summary. Otherwise, the Off softkey is grayed and doesn't work.

   Once disabled, everyone in the meeting receives the notification that indicates the meeting summary is turned off. Meanwhile, the summary options disappear from the phone screen.

On 9871/8875:

1. Locate and tap AI Assistant .
2. Tap the toggle Meeting summary to turn it on.

   As a participant, you can turn it on only when the meeting hosts allow you to do that. Otherwise, the Meeting summary toggle is grayed and unavailable.

   Once enabled, everyone in the meeting receives the notification that indicates the meeting summary is turned on. Meanwhile, the meeting summary options turn to available on the phone screen.

3. Tap one of the following options to get your desired summaries:
   • Catch me up—summary of the last 15 minutes of the meeting.
   • What are the action items?—summary of action items mentioned in the meeting.

Limitations

Currently, AI Assistant on the phone only supports English as the spoken language.
